Acceptance

Look what GOD is making!

There’s power in acceptance.  Not fatalism or giving up hope or failing to try to improve things. Just acceptance.

Acceptance of what is, rather than insistence on what isn’t.  Acceptance that what you’re going through – whether it lasts a minute, a day, or a lifetime – has somehow been allowed by God, and therefore must be intended for you to experience and face down in faith. Acceptance that whether you’re meant to challenge, change, or simply outlast this circumstance, God in His infinite wisdom allowed it to cross your path in this moment in history for very good (and very wise) reasons. Whether you understand them right now or not. Acceptance.

I’ve been learning that lesson in spades lately. And finding incredible peace and joy in the process.  All kinds of opportunities are coming my way that I never envisioned. Yet as a result, all kinds of “givens” are being challenged in ways that I never, ever wanted. I’ve felt anxious. Overwhelmed. Even panicky and grief-stricken at times. Yet working my way toward faith-filled acceptance has been my salvation. The patch of blue at the edge of the finally parting clouds. GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING. And I, for once, am content to simply go along for the ride.

Acceptance. What a blessed relief…

Wayne Jacobsen: “I wanted God to change things so I would never have to be afraid. God wanted to change me so that nothing could ever make me afraid again.”

Pastor Paul Viggiano: “In eternity, God will never repent of a single moment of the history He has ordained.”

(both quotes paraphrased)
